Coming Soon: Google Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro Release Date Locked in for October 4

Google has officially disclosed the launch date for its upcoming flagship smartphones, the Pixel 8 series. Following the release of the Pixel 7 series in October 2022, the Pixel 9 lineup is poised to take over, featuring both a base model and a Pro variant. Notably, the design of the Pro model was inadvertently revealed by the company recently. Amidst weeks of swirling rumors about key specifications and phone details, Google, headquartered in Mountain View, California, has now confirmed the Pixel 8 series launch date, which coincided with Apple’s announcement of the iPhone 15 series launch date.

A promotional video shared on Made by Google’s X (formerly Twitter) account (@madebygoogle) has confirmed that the Pixel 8 series launch is scheduled for October 4. Anticipated to include the base Pixel 8 and the Pixel 8 Pro models, the event is reportedly set to take place in New York, commencing at 10 AM local time.

A day earlier, Apple revealed that it would unveil the iPhone 15 series on September 12 during an event titled ‘Wonderlust.’ This event is slated to occur at Apple Park in Cupertino, California, with live streaming accessible on apple.com and the Apple TV app from 10 AM local time.

Recent leaks showcased the design of the Pixel 8 Pro, portraying the smartphone in a Porcelain White hue. Although it bore similarities to the preceding Pixel 7 Pro, the triple rear camera system seemed to be consolidated within a singular pill-shaped unit on the camera module.

Adding to the speculation, a teaser video suggested the potential inclusion of an ‘Audio Magic Eraser’ feature in the Pixel 8 series phones. The video displayed the tagline “the only phone with Audio Magic Eraser,” coupled with the existing Pixel tagline, “the only phone engineered by Google.” This feature is speculated to enable users to eliminate unwanted audio from video clips.

Rumors have also pointed towards AI-powered cameras within the Pixel 8 series and potential alterations to Google’s camera application interface. It’s important to note that all these details remain speculative and unconfirmed by the company.
